Research and Service

  • Assist in the overall operations of the rabies laboratory and Next Generation sequencing Laboratory.
  • Conduct and oversee research activities focused on the development and improvement of diagnostic assays and techniques for detecting infectious diseases in animals.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design and implement research projects aimed at addressing critical issues in animal health.
  • Ensure that governing laboratory activities are maintained and in compliance with regulatory standards and guidelines (AAVLD, CLIA).
  • Participate in sample processing, data analysis, and quality control procedures.
  • Development and validation of new laboratory tests, assays and equipment.
  • Train laboratory staff, students, and research assistants involved in both Rabies and NGS research projects.
  • Participate in grant writing, manuscript editing and literature reviews towards research and publication efforts.
