Clinical Rotation in China 中国临床轮转
The KSU graduates of the U.S.-China joint DVM program have set up the Dr. Luo Qingsheng Travel Award to support two senior DVM students each year to travel to China for a two-week clinical rotation. The award provides $2,000 per person for their travel expenses. Each selected student should submit a summary about his/her thoughts/benefits after the trip.
The following is the information about clinical rotations offered at several Chinese universities where the U.S.-China joint DVM program alumni worked as an associate professor or professor.
中国农业大学China Agricultural University, Beijing, China
China Agricultural University (CAU) is situated in Beijing, the capital of China, and is widely recognized as the country's foremost agricultural institution. The College of Veterinary Medicine at CAU holds the prestigious top-ranking position among all veterinary schools in China.
We currently offer a comprehensive two-week rotation program that allows students to customize their learning experience by selecting the small animal teaching hospital, the large animal medical center and the equine clinical diagnostic center. The students may select from the following training sessions depending on their interest:
1. Lectures about the development of the veterinary clinical sciences in China, the regulations of veterinary practice in China and specific clinical topics on small and large animal medicine.
2. Following the small animal clinicians in the veterinary teaching hospital, participating in the clinical examination, diagnosis and treatment of dogs, cats and exotics pets.
3. Advanced training on small animal cardiology, including lectures, case discussion and ultrasonography.
4. Unique training at the donkey farms/beef cattle farms to experience the health management of livestock, with an emphasis on vaccination and parasite control, common disorders, reproductive management and production decisions.
Students are required to write a study report for their final evaluation.
Students will also get to view the local farms (horses, beef, dairy, donkeys, swine, poultry depends on the arrangement) with the large animal clinicians.
The students who are interested in research could also have the chance to visit the state-of-the-art research facilities at CAU.
