Dr. Samuel E. Strahm, 1959 KSU DVM, has a very distinguished record in community service, organized veterinary medicine, and with the State and National Boards of Examiners.

His service to the Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Association (OVMA) and components of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) is unparalleled. He has devoted time and energy throughout his professional career to the enhancement of veterinary medicine as a profession, despite carrying on a busy, large animal practice in Oklahoma.

In his community he was a member of Osage County Extension Council; Active in Osage County 4-H since 1959; Honorary member, Oklahoma State and Osage County 4-H; President, Pawhuska School Board, member since 1973; National School Boards Association, Western Region President, 1995; President, Pawhuska Jaycees; chairman, State Outstanding Young Farmer Committee (held all offices and participated at state level); Chairman, Pawhuska Planning Commission; Member, zoning board; Deacon, First Baptist Church; Chairman, building committee; First National Bank Director, 1989-1995.

Dr. Strahm was an honorary member of the Oklahoma State 4-H Clubs 1965. He also received the following awards: Irwin Award-Tulsa Veterinary Medical Association 1966; Veterinary Medical F. Irwin Award, OVMA, 1977; Diplomate, National Academy of Practice, 1985; AVMA Award, AVMA, 1986; Spring Show Award, Osage County 4-H, 1989; Veterinarian of the Year, OVMA, 1990.

He is one of the few KSU graduates to have been President of the AVMA. His devotion to the enhancement of the veterinary medical profession has been demonstrated in every science he has rendered as a professional.
