Service

As Director of the Rabies Laboratory, Dr. Hanlon is responsible for ensuring efficient operations of one of the highest volume serology laboratories in North America. The results reported from this laboratory impact human medical management (i.e., need for booster vaccination) of persons at frequent and continuous risk of rabies exposures and international movement of domestic animals.

Teaching

As an invited lecturer, Dr. Hanlon contributes to core coursework of the veterinary curriculum in areas of her expertise including virology, immunology, epidemiology and related topics.

Research

Dr. Hanlon has extensive research experience in comparative medicine using animal models for comparative pathogenesis of unique rabies virus variants and related Lyssaviruses, as well as for the evaluation of pre- and post-exposure prophylaxis protocols and novel biologics.
