Dr. James Langley - DVM 1971
Nebraska Veterinary Medical Association 2026

Drs. James Langley, Omaha, Nebraska, were selected by the Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine’s Alumni Association for its 2026 Alumni Recognition Award announced in conjunction with the winter meeting of the Nebraska Veterinary Medical Association held Jan. 29. The award was presented by the Kansas State University Veterinary Medical Alumni Association in recognition for the time and effort devoted to advancing veterinary medicine and for being an exemplary role model for future alumni in a professional and community setting.
Dr. Langley owns and operates the Langley Animal Hospital in Papillion. He completed his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (DVM) at Kansas State University in 1971.
“The College of Veterinary Medicine is proud to recognize Dr. James Lampley for his veterinary career and service to the greater Omaha community,” said Dr. Elizabeth Davis, interim dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine. “He has been an active leader in his community and in the Nebraska Veterinary Medical Association, so it is an honor for us to present this award among his veterinary colleagues and peers in Nebraska.”
Dr. Langley was born in Omaha. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University in 1967. He attended a four-day orthopedic seminar at the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1981. He was the Nebraska Veterinarian of the Year in 2002. Dr. Langley was presented with awards of appreciation from the Papillion Lions Club and International Lions Club for work done for the Service Dog Voucher Program.
Dr. Langley is a member of the Nebraska Veterinary Medical Association and has served as the public relations chair from 1995 to 2005; NVMA Centennial Scholarship Foundation board member from 2001 to present; Centennial Scholarship Foundation president from 2015 to present; and District One director for several years. He is also a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Kansas Veterinary Medical Association, board of directors for Midlands Community Hospital Foundation and the Animal Emergency Clinic of Omaha.
Dr. Langley and his wife, Janie, have been married since 1979.
