Dr. Charles Boreson - DVM 1973

Dr. Charles Boreson, Tucson, Arizona, has been chosen as the recipient of the 2023 Alumni Recognition Award presented at the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) held in San Diego, California, Dec. 1, 2023. The award is sponsored by the Kansas State University Veterinary Alumni Association in the College of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Boreson earned a Doctor Veterinary Medicine degree in 1973 from Kansas State University. After graduation, Dr. Boreson started his own equine practice, Sunkist Equine Clinic, in 1980 in Tucson, Arizona. He retired from his practice in 2014 after 38 years of service.
"It is very humbling for me to be recognized at the AAEP meeting by the Kansas State Alumni Association,” said Dr. Boreson. “I feel privileged to have graduated from the Kansas State College of Veterinary Medicine."
“We have great appreciation for Dr. Boreson’s passion and dedication to equine medicine,” said Hodes Family Dean Dr. Bonnie Rush. “He has shown great commitment to the profession with his life-long membership with the AAEP. On the 50th anniversary of his graduation, this award is a wonderful recognition of his distinguished career.”
While Dr. Boreson is still a member of AAEP, he is now considered an Honor Roll Member, which are for those 70 and above with 40 consecutive years of membership. Dr. Boreson served on the Board of Directors for the Arizona Veterinary Medical Association (AZVMA) from 1995 to 1997. In 2000, he received the Large Animal Practitioner of the Year award from the AZVMA.
Dr. Boreson and his wife, Bonnie, have 2 children: Justin and Krista Boreson.
