Makeup Exam Policy

  1. Prior to filling out the makeup exam scheduling form, which can be found on every course under the College Policies, then Exam Makeup Policy Link, students must have an excused absence recorded, and approved, by the office of the Associate Dean of Academic Programs and Student Success.
  2. Instructors will then be emailed about the makeup exam. Course coordinators and instructors may choose to administer their own makeup exams and/or to give alternative test formats (oral exams, essay exams, etc.).
  3. After the Dean’s Office approval and the instructor’s confirmation ITD will schedule with the student and send a confirmation email to all parties within 24 hours of the student scheduling their exam.
  4. All makeup exams must be taken within five (5) school days after the original exam, or the exam score will be recorded as a “0”. No makeup exams will be given centrally prior to the original exam. Exceptions will only be allowed through prior agreement discussed with and approved by both the course coordinator and the Associate Dean, and proctored by the Course Instructor.
  5. Makeup exams for students with Student Access Center-approved accommodations will occur ONLY in the testing center as always. Cathy Minihan manages communication and schedules for these exams.
  6. All non-accommodation makeup exams administered centrally will occur only on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at 1 p.m., 2 p.m., or 3 p.m. in the Library Conference Room and proctored by ITD. Please email Canvas with questions. Please schedule the makeup exam date through the link found on every course under the College Policies, then Exam Makeup Policy Link. Check in will be in Trotter 417. Makeup exams must be scheduled two (2) days prior to the makeup exam for prompt scheduling after absences is imperative.
  7. You must be on time for all scheduled makeup exams. Exam duration/exam end time will not be adjusted for late arrivals. If you are more than 20 minutes late for your scheduled exam, the exam will be cancelled, and you will be referred back to the course coordinator to determine your eligibility for another attempt.
