nasciementoAmanda Nascimento, DVM, PhD

  • Dr. Amanda Nascimento is a Brazilian-Canadian with a unique journey in veterinary medicine. She started her North American adventure in 2015 by moving to Canada for a Ph.D. at the University of Saskatchewan. Before that, she earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree in 2010 and completed a master's in veterinary sciences in 2012 in Brazil. All supported by scholarships.

    Her academic path led to post-doctoral training in immunology at the University of Saskatchewan. She specialized in areas like experimental pathology and clinical pharmacology/toxicology (One Health), broadening her knowledge.

    Later, she worked in Canada's private sector as the Head of Integrative Veterinary Medicine and a Researcher. There, she explored natural pet products and holistic diets, discovering a passion for nutrition.

    Her career took a new turn when she joined Health Canada's Veterinary Drug Directorate as a Scientific Evaluator. She regulated drugs, vaccines, and natural products, collaborating with international organizations like the US-FDA and EMA. She also assessed risks for the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, ensuring the safety of animals and people.

    Today, driven by her love for nutrition, she is a clinical nutrition intern at Kansas State University. She uses her background to study veterinary nutrition and make a positive impact on animal health.

Dr. Flavia Vaduva

Flavia Vaduva, DVM, MBA, MS

  • Flavia Vaduva is a 2015 graduate of the Hough Graduate School of Business at the University of Florida and a 2016 graduate of the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. She completed her MBA at West Texas A&M university in 2019 and is currently pursuing a Ph.D in Global Business Management through Northcentral University and is a University of Tennessee/Kansas State University second year Clinical Nutrition Resident. She worked as a general practitioner and in various industry roles for 6 years prior to pursuing a nutrition residency and enjoys discussing nutrition with veterinary professionals.

OdunayoAdesola Odunayo, DVM, MS, DACVEEC

  • Adesola Odunayo is the Michael Schaer Distinguished Professor of emergency and critical care at the University of Florida. She attended veterinary school at Oklahoma State University (2005) and completed a rotating internship at Hollywood Animal Hospital, Hollywood FL. She then completed an emergency and critical care internship at the Animal Emergency Center in Glendale, WI and a residency in emergency and critical care at the University of Missouri (2010). Her clinical interests are diverse but the absolute favorite part of her job is being by her patients’ bedside. She also enjoys research studies that answer practical clinical questions and has a focus in acid suppression and venous access. Outside of work, she is drawn to culinary adventures and traveling the world.

  • Caitlyn is a Board Certified Veterinary Nutritionist® with special interests in critical care nutrition, everything cats, and teaching. She spent 13 years at the University of Illinois completing her BS, DVM, and PhD in Nutritional Sciences. During veterinary school and her PhD, she became very interested in nutrition education of veterinary students and the power of nutrition in health and disease. She then completed a rotating small animal medicine and surgery internship at Premier Veterinary Group on the north side of Chicago. Caitlyn then traveled to Raleigh, NC to complete her Small Animal Clinical Nutrition residency at North Carolina State University. Here, she developed a love of critical care nutrition and was fortunate to be very involved in the education of 3rd and 4th year veterinary students. She then started her career in the fresh pet food space and is now very excited to call Hill's her home! In Caitlyn's free time, she enjoys patio gardening, cooking, and country line dancing!
