Dr. Tom R. Lenz

Nationally recognized for his work on behalf of equine welfare, Dr. Tom Lenz is immediate past chairman of the Unwanted Horse Coalition, Senior Director of Equine Veterinary Services at Zoetis and a past president of the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP). A long-time advocate for the health and welfare of the horse, he has chaired the AAEP's Welfare Committee, served on the American Veterinary Medical Association's (AVMA) Welfare Committee, and currently serves on the welfare committees of the American Horse Council, the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, and the Missouri Veterinary Medical Association.

During his 30-year veterinary career, Dr. Lenz has worked in private equine practice, academia, and corporate business. A 1975 graduate of the University of Missouri’s College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Lenz became a Diplomate in the American College of Theriogenologists (animal reproduction) in 1986 and received a Master of Science degree in equine reproduction from Texas A&M University in 1988.
