Today we celebrate National School Custodian Appreciation Day!

Our CVM custodians are the quiet heroes of the college of veterinary medicine — keeping our classrooms, labs, exam rooms and buildings clean, safe and welcoming every single day. From early mornings to late evenings, they make sure our students, staff and faculty have the best environment to learn in! THANK YOU to our crew for all they do!

Here are some quotes from some of our faculty members expressing their appreciation for the custodians who work in their areas.

  • “Our CVM custodians do an excellent job keeping our building in great shape, and they are always so friendly! I’m sure our building provides lots of extra challenges with dog hair and other “organic surprises” and yet they are always smiling and get the job done well. Thank you!!!” – Dr. Kate KuKanich

  • “I really appreciate Lo Mauga for all of her hard work and dedication back in Large Animal side of hospital. She is always smiling and trying to help however she can to make our area clean and safe. She even goes out of her way to open doors for people. What a great person!” – Dr. Chris Blevins

  • “A heartfelt thank you to Sue Grayson, Lane, Evin Eby and Chris for the outstanding work you do every single day here in Mosier Hall (2nd Floor). Your dedication, attention to detail, and hard work keep our spaces clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone. We truly appreciate your commitment and the pride you take in your work, it makes a real difference for all of us.” – Dr. Raghavendra Amachawadi

  • “Sun Johnson is amazing, not just because she does her job well, but because of the positive vibe she brings. Always a pleasure to have a little chat with her!” - Dr. Sergei Raev

  • “In all my years at K-State, I have never seen a custodian as good and thorough in her tasks as Sun is! In addition, she brightens the Christmas Holiday season with her colorful and creative balloon decorations on the third-floor hallways of Coles Hall.” – Dr. T.G. Nagaraja

  • “Sun is brilliant. Always greeting us with a bright smile and a cheery persona. She anticipates when we need doors opening and, of course, keeps Coles Hall floors and facilities as sparkling as they can be. She is a treasure!” – Dr. David Poole
