We are interested in speaking with new grads (Mentorship provided), internship trained, or experienced DVMs. We are a progressive 7 Doctor Practice that has a team based approach to medicine and mentorship. Our schedule encourages a healthy work life balance with doctors working 3 shifts per week and rotating Saturdays. Our in house lab is state of the art making our diagnostic capabilities second to none. We have digital x-ray, digital dental x-ray, pulse ox, EKG, blood pressure, IV pumps, in floor heat in cages, endoscopy, tonometer, ultrasound machine, and gas anesthesia. We are located in the Black Hills of South Dakota, close to Mount Rushmore. The area is known for hiking, camping, mountain biking, fishing, hunting, water skiing, rock climbing, ice climbing, snowshoeing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, trail riding and rodeo. Animal Clinic Ltd. is a busy mixed animal practice located in Winner, a small town in south central South Dakota. The practice includes 5 veterinarians, 2 veterinary technicians, 4 veterinary assistants and an office manager. Our Caseload is approximately 90% beef cow/calf, backgrounding, and feedlot, with remaining 10% being divided between small animal, equine, small ruminant, and swine. The clinic is made up of almost 10,000 sq ft under roof. We have a main clinic housing our dispensary showroom, offices, and small animal facilities which covers 3,200 sq ft. The facility was built new in 2010. Our large animal haul-in facility is enclosed and is 2,400 sq ft. The unloading facility and outdoor pens are 900 sq ft and are under roof. We also have a detached equine clinic about 80 yards away which is 3200 sq ft. Our equipment list includes CBC, blood chemistry, an anesthesia monitoring system, digital x-ray, 14 Ultrasound machines 10 Lane Pulsator IV electro-ejaculators, 6 Silencer and 1 Cow Country hydraulic squeeze chutes, Stubbs pneumatic equine dental equipment and a portable horse stocks. Our small animal services include routine medicine and surgery including bone pinning. We also provide routine equine medicine and surgery services along with more extensive reproduction and dental services. Our beef cattle practice is very seasonal due primarily to the true four season weather pattern that we experience. We diagnose pregnancy by either palpation or ultrasonography in over 60,000 head of cows and heifers, we pelvic measure over 5000 heifers, vaccinate for brucellosis about 12,000 heifers and fertility test over 9,000 bulls annually. We gladly offer preceptorship/externships to Sr. veterinary students. There is a bedroom, bathroom with a shower and a kitchen with a microwave provided at the clinic. Job Responsibilities • Develop a rapport with clients and determine their needs and wishes; perform physical examinations and diagnostic/medical/surgical/dental procedures in a way that will deliver the highest quality care while minimizing patient stress and discomfort. • Explain physical examination findings and communicate to the client a diagnosis of the pet’s problems; generate and present a treatment plan for the pet to the client; educate clients on preventative health care, including vaccines and appropriate nutritional products. • Maintain client/patient medical/surgical records and make certain all necessary logs are kept up-to-date through established protocols; assist colleagues in follow-up and future management of the patient. • Stay up-to-date with new medical information and changes in veterinary medicine, attend Continuing Education meetings. • Assist in the development of the paraprofessional team to ensure the delivery of the highest quality care and exceptional client service. • Positively represent the hospital in the professional community and to the general public. • Other duties as assigned.
