Veterinarian needed for a multi-veterinarian, ambulatory, primary care and referral practice in beautiful Saratoga Springs, NY. We are a state of the art 6,000 square foot medical and surgical hospital with and additional 17 stall barn with indoor arena, treatment room and reproduction laboratory. The practice is fully equipped with digital radiology, multiple portable and stationary ultrasounds, video and dynamic endoscopy, nuclear medicine, ECSWT, IRAP, PRP, BMAC, Prostride, alternative medicine, therapeutic laser, in house laboratory, power dentistry and much more. We are looking for a veterinarian with a interest in sports medicine and/or reproduction. Our practice services a large Standardbred population, several small and large thoroughbred breeding farms, as well as both English and Western performance horses and pets. The candidate must be a independent self-starter who also works well as a team and wants to be able to bring cases to the next level. Long Island Veterinary Specialists (LIVS) in Plainview, New York is offering competitive positions for a period of one year. Qualified applicants will be considered on their scholastic background, interpersonal skills, letters of recommendation and level of motivation. The state-of-the-art referral facility has a staff of 150 dedicated caregivers. LIVS is the largest private referral practice in New York State. Specialty services include Emergency and Critical Care, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Ophthalmology, Neurology, Dermatology, Oncology, Radiation Therapy, and Cardiology. The intern coordinator is dedicated to arranging rotations at an alternative institution if an intern is seriously considering pursuing a specialty service that is not currently offered at LIVS. We have an on-site multi slice helical CT scanner, 2 digital radiology suites, electrodiagnostics, endoscopy, laparoscopy, radioiodine therapy, 3 Tesla MRI, color thermography, force plate/gait analysis, Cavitron ultrasonic aspirator (CUSA), arthroscopic equipment, ultrasonography, intraocular ultrasonography, non-anesthetic mechanical ventilator, blood bank, full bone-plating equipment (including total hips), diode ophthalmic laser, operating surgical microscope and two phacoemulsification cataract units. Our hospital features a full service rehabilitation center. The staff of the center includes certified canine rehabilitation practitioners. Interns will play a crucial role in all aspects of the clinical setting. Rotations in each specialty will involve close interaction with and/or supervision by the staff specialists and/or residents. Long Island Veterinary Specialists’ large and diverse caseload which includes dogs, cats, birds, ferrets, rabbits, rodents, reptiles, and pot belly pigs will provide progressive medical and surgical clinical skills. A rotating schedule includes all specialty services, intensive care and emergency services. Continuing education including daily rounds, weekly morbidity/mortality rounds, and monthly lectures. Our Emergency and Critical Care Center is opened 24 hours a day, 7 days a week including holidays. Our experienced support staff is responsible for administering patient care and performing technical tasks such as obtaining radiographs, collecting lab samples and administering medications. LIVS currently directs two surgical residency programs, two surgical internship programs, and one ophthalmology internship program. Majority of interns who sought advanced training beyond the general internship have successfully secured residencies or specialized internships of their choice.
