Job Type: Externship
We would like to introduce you to Kalvig & Shorter Veterinary Associates. We are a busy and sophisticated small animal practice in New York City offering rotational externships to third and fourth year veterinary students who would like to gain work experience in all aspects of our field. Our externs have come from both the U.S. and abroad and have been very satisfied with the practical knowledge they have gained during their time with us. This externship offers a broad experience in the day-to-day operations of a small animal practice that is considered to be one of Manhattan's premier veterinary care facilities. You will gain knowledge assisting in both the “front" and the "back”, working in appointments, surgery, radiology, house calls, emergency work, and nursing, as well as have an opportunity to work one or two shifts in a local 24-hour referral and emergency hospital. We want to ensure that our candidates understand everything it takes to operate a successful, competitive practice, so be open to learning and helping wherever needed. As a way of celebrating your growth while at our practice, we invite all externs to give a presentation, topic of choice, to our doctors and staff at a lunch in their honor before the end of their term. We believe in the talent of our team members and provide everyone an opportunity to grow and excel. As a way to get to know us better, please visit our website, kalvigandshorter.com, and our Facebook page, and then submit your resume and an original cover letter explaining why you'd like to be part of our team. Material can be sent to ksvhrdirector@gmail.com, attention Jacquelyn Gilbert, HR Director/ Externship Request. Please copy and paste both your resume and cover letter into the body of the email to expedite the handling of your application. This is a year-round opportunity, however some months may already be filled. Please request various time frames, in order of preference, to increase your chances of selection. We look forward to hearing from you! The Doctors and Staff of Kalvig & Shorter Veterinary Associates
