This position will multiply the success of client breeding programs by producing embryos from their donor cows and pregnancies in their recipient cows. Ensure disease and trauma are minimized when embryos are harvested from donors and transferred into recipients. Monitor the general health and reproductive fertility in resident cows while contributing to a positive working environment, delivering services which exceed customer expectation. Ideally candidate will reside in the Modesto/Turlock/Fresno area.

Key Responsibilities:
• Flush and transfer bovine embryos in the clinic and on farms.
• Perform ultrasound guided transvaginal ovum pickup procedures for bovine IVF embryo production.
• Review and design superovulation and synchronization protocols for donors and recipients.
• Evaluate pregnancy status in recipients post-implant using ultrasonography to:
-Evaluate the gender in embryo transfer and in-vitro fetuses.
• Monitor and implement the preventative medicine, nutrition, and reproductive programs and overall herd health of animals on the farms.
• Implement, monitor, and continue to improve the biosecurity programs on the farms.
• Monitor compliance of herd health and SOP documents relative to the export of bovine embryos.
• Perform tests and exams and complete paperwork for the interstate movement of animals.
• Examine and administer treatments to sick donor and recipient cows and calves .
• Follows Trans Ova's policies and procedures.
• Maintains a professional image reflective of Trans Ova's industry position.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education Requirements:
• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent.
• Full current accreditation with the USDA – APHIS.
• Licensure in necessary states or the ability to acquire a license.
• American Embryo Transfer Association certification or ability to acquire.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
• Ability to travel including occasional overnight stays with seasonal spikes (Apr-June, Nov-Dec).
• Ability to put in long days (up to 14 hours) during seasonal periods.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to remain on feet for long periods of time.
• Strong and reliable back, shoulder, arm, hand and ability to manipulate the bovine reproductive tract multiple times.
• Excellent hand coordination and finger sensation.

Other Skills/Experience:
• Passion for bovine reproduction with a desire for continual learning and improvement.
• Strong sense for connecting with customers and identifying and fulfilling their needs.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
• High degree of professionalism.
• Proficiency in computer skills including Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
• Valid driver's license and ability to operate a company vehicle.

Southern Hills Veterinary Services Inc., with offices in Corning, Villisca, Creston and Red Oak, Iowa has a position available for a mixed animal Veterinarian.  This position could range from 10% up to 90% Small Animal, and could include a significant amount of equine or swine work depending on the personal and professional interests of the applicant.
We are a ten doctor practice (Dr. Scott Shuey KSU 95, Dr. Krista Davies ISU 97, Dr. Greg Weis ISU 02, Dr. Dan Dewitt ISU 04, Dr. Melissa James ISU 05, Dr. Aimee Anderson 06, Dr. Kate Rudolph Ill 12, Dr. Blaine Johnson ISU 16 and Dr. Ryan Shuey ISU 16).  The opening is due to an associate leaving the practice to return to her hometown to work.  Our main office is in Corning, Iowa (pop 1500) with additional offices in Creston (pop 7500), Villisca (pop 1300) and Red Oak (pop 7000).  At this time, we see the person working primarily out of the Red Oak office, however they would be free to live in any of the towns and we could adjust the schedule accordingly.  Including Veterinarians, we have a full and part-time staff of 32 employees.  Each doctor, on most days are assigned a Veterinary Assistant to work with.  Our main office in Corning was built in 1997 (5700 sq. ft.).  It has both large and small animal handling facilities, including a hospital pen for large animals.  We are in the process of building a new facility in Red Oak.  Ground breaking will take place in June 2017.
Our practice is 40% small animal, 60% large animal.  Both large and small animal gross income has been growing at approximately 8% per year.  The small animal worked ranges from routine vaccinations and surgeries to doing cruciate repairs on knees, pinning and plating of fractures.  We have in house digital x-ray, CBC, blood chemistry, gas anesthesia and ultrasound.  CT scanning is available through a local hospital.  
The large animal portion of our practice consists mainly of cow-calf herds ranging in size from 10 to 1100 head.  Most of our better regular clients have between 100 and 350 cows and are excellent to work with.  We have a growing feedlot portion with 15 yards ranging in capacity from 1000 to 9000 head.  We also provide services to the Creston and Red Oak Livestock Auctions.  On call duties are shared equally.
