SCACVP – Student Chapter of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists
The KSU Chapter of the American
College of Veterinary Pathologists (SCACVP) is an organization with the
goal of providing veterinary medical students the opportunity to gain
exposure to the field of veterinary pathology and to inform students of
training and career opportunities in veterinary pathology.
The SCACVP is a recent addition to
the list of student organizations in the college of veterinary medicine
and is one of only a few other student veterinary pathology
organizations in the nation.
Chapter meetings highlight several
areas of veterinary pathology with guest lecturers and wet-labs that
demonstrate various diagnostic techniques, introduce students to
clinical and anatomical pathology cases, and help to exemplify the
learning of disease processes. Students may also attend weekly Necropsy
and Oncology rounds.
Membership in the organization is
$5 per semester, which allows members to attend wet-labs, the national
ACVP conference, have access to on-line veterinary pathology journals,
and to hold officer positions. Current officer positions include
President, Vice-President and Secretary/Treasurer.
Anatomic and clinical pathology
residents and graduate students serve as Chapter mentors. There are two
faculty advisors who are members of the ACVP.
Students from all backgrounds and
training levels with an interest in learning more about the field of
Pathology are invited to attend chapter meetings. To learn more about
SCACVP, or to find out about current chapter meetings and events, visit
the other links on this webpage, or contact one of the current SCACVP
officers. |
