2005 Timeline

Phi Zeta Research Day will be Tuesday, March 1, 2005. There will be no classes in the afternoon for the students in the first three years of the curriculum, and minimization of clinical activities on that afternoon for the 4th year students. In the past, the participation by members of the CVM community has been excellent, and we hope that it will be even better this year. At the conclusion of the day's activities, an informal reception and awards ceremony beginning at 5:30 PM will take place in the Practice Management Center.

Presentations and Posters: All undergraduates, professional students, graduate students, interns, residents and post docs are encouraged to submit abstracts for presentations and/or posters i.e. you do not need to be a Phi Zeta member to participate. Presentations should be 15 minutes (12-13 minutes for the presentation with 2-3 minutes for questions at the end). The Poster Presentations will take place in the Practice Management Center, with poster viewing beginning at 12:00 noon and extending throughout the afternoon. The Plenary Address by our Keynote Speaker will precede the Oral Presentations, and will be held in Frick Auditorium at 1:00 PM. At 2:15 PM, the Oral Presentations will commence with the Basic Science Presentations being held in Trotter Hall 201, and the Clinical/Applied Science presentations being held in Frick Auditorium.

Abstracts: Confine the abstract/s to a single page each with 1 inch margins in Microsoft Word, font 10 or you can use a different word processing software as long as it is easily convertible to Microsoft word e.g. Corel. Please put in bold the title and the name of the presenter, and underline the name of the faculty sponsor (or major professor etc.). Please send the abstract to Melinda J. Wilkerson by no later than 5:00 PM on Friday, February 18, 2005. It would be best to send the abstract as an attachment to an e mail, but you can also deliver it as a floppy disk. Please be sure to indicate your audiovisual needs in the e mail e.g. dual projectors, LCD projector, Computer for PowerPoint etc. etc.

Awards: This year, the awards ceremony and reception will be held following the presentations on Phi Zeta Day, Tuesday, March 1 in the Practice Management Center, Trotter Hall. At this ceremony, we will award prizes for best presentations, present the Pfizer Award for Research Excellence, and initiate the new members of Phi Zeta.
