SCAVSAB - Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behaviorists
The Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behaviorists--aka 'Behavior Club' is an organization dedicated to educating veterinary students about all aspects of animal behavior.
Behavior club incorporates a large variety of topics into our monthly meetings, wet labs, and conferences to represent the diverse interests of our members. The club covers a wide range of species including small and large animals, food and companion animals, exotic pets, zoo animals, and wildlife. The club also covers a number of different behavioral topics including natural behavior, abnormal behavior problems, and training.
Monthly meetings usually consist of a short business meeting followed by a lecture or demonstration on a behavior related subject. Wet labs provide the opportunity for members to get hands-on experience either in basic animal handling skills or in specific behavior topics. The club has put on several weekend conferences, bringing in nationally known speakers to further educate both veterinary students and area veterinarians. In addition, the club hosts fundraising activities throughout the year, participates in the annual university open house, and provides puppy socialization and obedience training classes to the community in the spring.
The behavior club invites anyone with an interest in animal behavior to join!
