American Animal Hospital Association Award - for demonstrated proficiency in small animal medicine and surgery. Presented to Mackenzie Ostmeyer by Dr. Ken Harkin

American Association of Feline Practitioners Award - for demonstrated proficiency in feline medicine and surgery. Presented to Becky Pigsley by Dr. Walter Renberg.

American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists Award
- for demonstrated proficiency in ophthalmology. Presented to Shelby Reinstein by Dr. Amy Rankin.

American College of Veterinary Radiology Award -
for demonstrated proficiency in veterinary radiology. Presented to Mackenzie Ostmeyer by Dr. Laura Armbrust.


American Association of Feline Practitioners Award - for demonstrated proficiency in feline medicine and surgery. Presented to Becky Pigsley by Dr. Walter Renberg.


American College of Veterinary Surgeons Large Animal Award -
for demonstrated proficiency in large animal surgery. Presented to Alexandra Tracey by Dr. Warren Beard.


American Royal Association Awards -
for participation in the American Royal Extemship Program. Presented to Elizabeth Spencer and Erin Hiskett by Dr. Melinda Wilkerson.


American College of Veterinary Surgeons Small Animal Award -
for demonstrated proficiency in small animal surgery. Presented to Lynn Gomes by Dr. Walter Renberg.


Animal Emergency Clinic of Omaha, Nebraska, Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care Award -
for proficiency in providing emergency and critical care for small animals. Presented to Nora Springer by Dr. Ken Harkin.


Dr. Harry D. and Alberta F. Anthony Award -
for demonstrated proficiency in feedlot medicine. Dr. Anthony received his DVM degree from KSU in 1952. After practicing in Illinois, Dr. Anthony returned to KSU where he eventually became the Director of the Diagnostic Laboratory in 1967. He retired in 1986 and passed away in 1995. Presented to Curt Vogel by Dr. Dan Thompson.


American Veterinary Medical Association Auxiliary Outstanding Student Award -
for advancing the prestige of the college on campus. Presented to Sara McReynolds by Dr. Ralph Richardson.


Dr. Joseph A. Bogue Memorial Award -
for demonstrated proficiency in applying nutritional therapeutics in small animals. Dr. Bogue, who passed away on Christmas Day, 1965, practiced veterinary medicine for more than half a century in Wichita. He served as President of the Kansas Veterinary Medical Association and was a member ofthe State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners. Presented to Lynn Gomes by Dr. Tracey Jackson.


Melba Cornwell Budge Memorial Award -
for demonstrated proficiency in feline medicine. Melba Cornwell Budge died on May 8, 1992. She lived in St. Johns, Kansas, and had great love for her cats. She left a portion of her estate to help educate veterinary students. Presented to Leann Wright by Dr. Susan Nelson.


Louis A. and Norma Jane Ball Award -
for demonstrated proficiency in small animal medicine. Presented to Niki Nicholas by Dr. Ken Harkin.


Dr. Ruthanne Chun Oncology Award -
for proficiency in Oncology. Presented to Danielle O'Brien by Dr. Steve Stockham.


Paul and Phyllis Curd Memorial Awards -
for proficiency in small animal medicine and surgery. Presented to Niki Nicholas, Clay Hallman, Jodi Bernstein, Matt Bartlett, Sara McReynolds, Pilar Wendell, and Jamie Warren by Dr. Emily Klocke.


Dr. Wayne and Drucecillia Burch Memorial Award - f
or demonstrated proficiency in food animal medicine and surgery. Dr. Burch was a 1937 graduate of our college. He was a Professor of Veterinary Science and an extension veterinarian at the University of Wisconsin for more than 20 years. Dr. Burch died at the age of89 in 1997. He thoroughly enjoyed talking to veterinary students and playing golf after retiring. Presented to Travis McCarty, Sara McReynolds, Keith DeDonder, Elliot Stevens, Ben Gardner, Apron Mailen, Niki Nicholas, Clay Hallman, Lindsay Waecher-Mead, and Nikki Josefick by Dr. Hans Coetzee.


Dr. R. R. and Karen Domer Award -
for demonstrated proficiency in large animal medicine and surgery. Presented to Daren Tamplin by Dr. Dave Anderson.


George Draeger Strength Through Adversity Award -
for demonstrated strength through adversity. Presented to Stephanie Young by Dr. Meredyth Jones.


Dr. Richard and Pam DeBowes Professional Leadership Award -
for demonstrated leadership. Presented to Christina Murray by Dr. Ralph Richardson.


Dr. Hi Faubion Memorial Award -
for interest in large animal medicine and surgery. Dr. Fabion was born in 1930 in Phillipsburg, Kansas. He received his DVM degree from Kansas State University in 1955. Dr. Fabion lived in Smith Center, Kansas, for more than 40 years and enjoyed a lifetime career in large animal veterinary medicine. He died in 1999. Dr. Fabion was a Past-President of the Kansas Veterinary Medical Association. Presented to Meghann Lustgarten by Dr. Dan Thompson.


Fort Dodge Animal Health Clinical Research Award -
for demonstrated clinical research ability. Presented to Shelby Reinstein by Dr. Lisa Freeman.


Dennis A. Evans Memorial Award -
for demonstrated compassion in handling clinical patients. Mr. Evans died while a veterinary student in 1980. Presented to Dawn Eckart by Dr. Susan Nelson.


Dr. O.M. Franklin Memorial Theriogenolgy Award -
for demonstrated proficiency in theriogenology. Presented to Chris Friedel by Dr. Maria Ferrer.


Dr. O.M. Franklin Memorial Toxicology Award -
for demonstrated proficiency in toxicology. Presented to Amanda Beck by Dr. MM Chengapa.


Dr. O.M. Franklin Memorial Epidemiology and Public Health Award -
for demonstrated proficiency in epidemiology and public health. Dr. Franklin received his DVM degree from KSU in 1912. While a faculty member, Dr. Franklin played an important role in the discovery of black leg serum. Presented to Joan Talbot by Dr. Dan Thompson.


Gentle Doctor Award
- for demonstrated abilities in relating to clients and patients. This award is sponsored by the Auxiliary of the KSU Student Chapter of the AVMA. The recipient of this award is selected by the senior class. Presented to Niki Nicholas by Dr. Ken Harkin.


Allan H. Hart/ldexx Award
- for proficiency in clinical pathology. Presented to Shelby Reinstein by Dr. Steve Stockham.


Future Small Animal Specialist Award -
for potential to contribute to specialty practice. Presented to Karen Patton by Dr. Dirsko Von Pfeil.


Dr. and Mrs. Gordon C. Howell Memorial Award -
for demonstrated proficiency in practice management. Dr. Howell graduated from our college in 1947. Presented to Natalie Barrett by Dr. Tracey Jackson.


Dr. William F. and Helen R. Irwin Memorial Award -
for demonstrated proficiency in small animal surgery. Dr. William F. Irwin graduated from our college in 1933 and died in 1959. Dr. Helen R. Irwin, William Irwin's wife, graduated from our college in 1932 and died in 1990. Helen Irwin was our college's first female graduate. The Irwins were prominent practitioners and citizens of Tulsa, Oklahoma, for many years. Presented to Jamie Warren by Dr. Walter Renberg.


Hill's Buddy Award
- for demonstrated proficiency in small animal nutrition. Presented to Melissa Blakely by Dr. Sue Nelson.


Dr. Jody Johnson Veterinary Medical Leadership Award -
for demonstrated leadership while a student. Presented to Emily Hayden by Dr. Jody Johnson.


Kansas City Veterinary Medical Association Award -
for demonstrated proficiency in radiology, presented to Karen Patlon; for compassionate animal care, presented to Emily Weeks by Dr. Steve Joseph.


Dr. L. Derald and Mary Ellen Jernigan Award -
for demonstrated proficiency in food animal medicine an surgery. Presented to Joel Robbins by Dr. Mike Apley.


Dr. Kenneth R. Kimbell Memorial Scholarship
- for interest in small animal practice. Presented to Brianna Abel by Dr. Walter Renberg.


Dr. John S. Koen Memorial Award
- for demonstrated proficiency in porcine medicine and surgery. Dr. Koen graduated form the Kansas City Veterinary College in 1907. Although Dr. Koen described swine flu in 1918, his work was not accepted until many years later. In 1931 Dr. Koen designed the original meat inspection program for the City of St. Louis. Dr. Koen had a very distinguished veterinary career. Presented to Jeff Korns by Dr. Dan Thompson.


Kansas Veterinary Medical Association Auxiliary Outstanding Senior Award
- for demonstrated leadership in SCAVMA. Presented to Dustin Staab by Dr. Susan Nelson.


Alvin A. Lidolph Award -
to the top students in the 4th year of the professional curriculum of the College of Veterinary Medicine. Presented to Mackenzie Ostmeyer and Shelby Reinstein by Dr. T.G. Nagaraja.


Dr. James T. Marsh Memorial Award -
for demonstrated proficiency in equine theriogenology. Dr. Marsh graduated from our college in 1969 and died in 1978. He practiced in Clovis, New Mexico. Presented to Stephanie Young by Dr. Maria Ferrer.


Francis Lucille Koss Memorial Award -
for demonstrated proficiency in both large and small animal medicine and surgery. At the time of Ms. Koss' death in 1967 in St. Joseph, Missouri, most of her estate was given to our college to help educate veterinary students. Ms. Koss enjoyed owning her animals. Presented to Travis McCarty, Justin Huser, Samuel Elder, and Justin Voge by Dr. Dirsko von Pfeil.


Dr. and Mrs. Nelson S. Mayo Memorial Equine Award
- for demonstrated proficiency in equine medicine and surgery. Presented to Justin Voge by Dr. Jim Lillich.


Merck Veterinary Manual Awards -
given to students in the top 10% of graduating class academically. Presented to: Amanda Beck, Shauna England, Samuel Elder, Rebecca Maher, Mackenzie Ostmeyer, Karen Patton, Shelby Reinstein, Jamie Warren, Sonya Wesselowski, and Lynn Gomes by Dr. Bonnie Rush.


Dr. and Mrs. Nelson S. Mayo Memorial Food Animal Award
- for demonstrated proficiency in food animal medicine and surgery. Dr. Nelson S. Mayo graduated from the Chicago Veterinary College in 1889. Dr. Mayo was a teacher for ten years at the Kansas State College. He is credited with being the first professor of veterinary science at Kansas State and for establishing the department which developed into the School of Veterinary Medicine. Presented to Curt Vogel by Dr. Dave Anderson.


Dr. Bishan Das and Ram Bai Minocha Memorial Award -
for proficiency in virology. Dr. Bishan Das Minocha was in the Army for 35 years, serving as a Sgt. Major during the time of WW II. Presenting a memorial award in his honor to Karen Patton are his son and daughter-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Harish Minocha.


Marie Mohr Memorial Award
- for demonstrated proficiency in providing clinical care while a student. Presented to Katrina Fox by Dr. Ken Harkin.


Dr. J. Sidney Michum Memorial Award -
for demonstrated proficiency in food animal practice. Dr. Michum graduated in 1918 from the Kansas City Veterinary College and practiced for more than fifty years. Presented to Lindsey Straika by Dr. Dan Thompson.


Dr. F. P. and Jane Moynagh Award
- for demonstrated proficiency in practice management. Presented to Justin Huser by Dr. Dave Anderson.


Radar Mullet Clinical Excellence Award
- for clinical proficiency and respect and support for the human/animal bond. Presented to Elliot Stevens by Lavonne Mullet.


Rodney K. Morgan Memorial Award
- for demonstrated proficiency in clinical pathology. Rodney Morgan was a second year veterinary student at the time of his death due to leukemia. Presented to Lynn Gomes by Mr. And Mrs. Keith Morgan, Rodney's parents.


Dr. John L. and Pat L. Noordsy Award -
for demonstrated proficiency in food animal medicine and surgery. Presented to Sandra Green by Dr. M. M. Chengappa.


Novartis Ethicon Surgery Awards -
for demonstrated proficiency in surgery. Presented to Jason Pozzuoli and Shelby Reinstein by Dr. Dirsko Von Pfeil.


Nestle Purina Excellence in Companion Animal Nutrition Award -
for interest in small animal nutrition. Presented to Angela Juno by Dr. Tracey Jackson.


Pfizer Veterinary Student Award -
for a third year student who shows dedication, character, academic achievement, and productivity. Presented to Kabel Robbins by Dr. Melinda Wilkerson.


Pfizer Veterinary Team Awards -
for proficiency in small animal/critical care. Presented to Elliot Stevens and Sara McReynolds by Dr. Dave Rankin.


Pet Tribute Awards -
for demonstrated compassionate clinical care of patients while a student. Presented to Sonya Wesselowski, April Cummins, Jay Dyke, Ben Gardner, Shauna England and Micah Sharp by Dr. Emily Klocke, representing the Pet Tribute.


Mary J. Reed Equine Compassion Award -
for compassionate care of horses. Presented to Jake Clements by Dr. Michelle Delco.


Dr. John and Mary Jo Cortelyou Rust Avian Pathology Award -
for demonstrated proficiency in avian pathology. Presented to Jennifer Kilburn by Dr. TG Nagaraga.


Irene and Marsh Plumlee Award -
for demonstrated proficiency in large animal medicine and surgery. Presented to Jay Dyke by Dr. Laurie Beard.


Schering-Plough Animal Health Awards
- for demonstrated proficiency in large animal medicine, presented to Somer Pieper; for demonstrated proficiency in small animal medicine, presented to Emily Hayden; for demonstrated proficiency in dermatology, presented to Samuel Elder by Dr. Mike Apley.


Dr. Don H. Spangler Memorial Award
- for demonstrated professionalism while a student. Dr. Spangler graduated from our college in 1931 and died in 1982. Presented to Mackenzie Ostmeyer by Dr. Walter Renberg.


Dr. John and Mary Jo Cortelyou Rust Laboratory Animal Pathology Award -
for demonstrated proficiency in laboratory animal pathology. Presented to Dustin Staab by Dr. Bob Larson.


Donald and Marilyn Trotter Award
- for demonstrated proficiency in anatomy or pathology. Presented to Amanda Beck by Dr. MM Chengappa.


Dr. Albert Francis and Clara I. Wempe Memorial Award
- for demonstrated proficiency in equine medicine. Presented to Daren Tamplin by Dr. Bonnie Rush.


Dr. Glenn Ray Teagarden Memorial Award
- for demonstrated proficiency in equine medicine. Dr. Teagarden graduated from our college in 1976. In 1977 he was killed when the horse he was riding reared and fell on him. Presented to Lynn Gomes by Dr. Laurie Beard.


Association of Avian Veterinarians Student Award
- for demonstrated proficiency in avian medicine. Presented to Elizabeth Kilzer by Dr. MM Chengappa.


Maxine Caley Award
– Presented to Chris Barrett by Maxine Caley.


Wempe - Luckeroth Family Award
- for demonstrated proficiency in mixed animal practice. Presented to Travis McCarty by Dr. Dan Thompson.


Pet Tribute Faculty Fellow Award

Mary J. Reed Equine Faculty Member Compassion Award
