Web/Database Developer

The College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking applications for a term, unclassified, professional position as a Web/Database Developer in the College of Veterinary Medicine.

This position is primarily responsible for coordinating with the College of Veterinary Medicine and the Beef Cattle Institute to develop and implement online-based learning modules. Other duties included, but are not limited to: developing specific programs to meet the needs outlined and provided by the Dean, Assistant Dean and Director, converting raw images and layouts from a graphic designer into CSS/XHTML themes, testing software and programs to ensure that all module and sites meet user needs and standards while maintaining the integrity of the CVM and BCI, troubleshooting and resolving production data and software problems, participating in CVM Computing and Technical Support team assignments to provide web and application development and assisting the Assistant Dean and Director with monitoring feedback of the training modules and the overarching system in order to enhance content and ease of use of students.

Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Web Development or other related area. A Bachelor of Science and a minimum of 3 years of experience with web application development can be substituted for a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or Web Development. Applicants must have a minimum of 1 year of experience in web programming/design and troubleshooting using HTML/XHTML, CSS, SQL, and PHP, ASP or JSP. The ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing is also required.

Preferred qualifications include: Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Web Development or related field, or 5 years of experience in web/web application development and the ability to work with minimum supervision, while balancing multiple projects. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
