Research Assistant

The College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking applications for an unclassified professional position as a Research Assistant in the Pharmcats Bioanalytical Services Division of Kansas Diagnostic and Analytical Services. This position is responsible for performing bioanalytical laboratory functions in support of assay development/validation and sample analysis. The position will also involve routine maintenance, trouble-shooting, and repairs on advanced instrumentation under the guidance of a senior analyst and other trained personnel. The successful applicant must communicate with team members and management regarding project status, scheduling, and opportunities in the lab. Applicants must possess a Bachelor's Degree in the Natural Sciences and have a minimum of one year experience in a laboratory setting. Knowledge in extraction including SPE and training and/or experience with HPLC is essential. Commercial laboratory experience involving mass spectrometry and the extraction of small molecules and/or peptides is preferred. The successful applicant will be expected to complete training to become a LC/MS/MS operator. Screening of applicants will being on July 7, 2009 and continue until the position has been filled.
