Project Coordinator
College of Veterinary Medicine, Kansas State University


The KSU Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital (VMTH) is seeking candidates for the position of Project Coordinator. This position is responsible for expense analysis, procurement, and coordination of installation and ongoing maintenance of hospital equipment in the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital and at satellite hospitals. Additional duties include coordinating major and minor construction, repair and maintenance projects in the VMTH and satellite hospitals, oversight of Service Maintenance Agreements on hospital equipment, identifying problem areas of building systems and proposing solutions, and coordinating facilities-related issues with college and main-campus Facilities personnel and outside contractors. The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree or work experience equivalent in: project coordination, construction, engineering or a related field. The candidate must be able to demonstrate:

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; ability to build constructive and effective relationships with a wide range of people.
  • Project management, facilities management, purchasing and procurement skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to manage and track multiple budgets.
  • Ability to make good on-the-spot decisions based on analysis, wisdom, experience and judgment.
  • Ability to work independently or effectively with groups and individuals.
  • Quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Excellent computer skills including Excel and CAD programs.
  • One year experience in project coordination, procurement and facilities management is preferred. Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience. Screening of applicants will begin on June 26th, 2009 and continue until the position has been filled.
