ICU Nursing/Technical Supervisor
The Veterinary Health Center at Kansas State University invites applications for an unclassified professional position for an ICU Nursing/Technical Supervisor. This position will serve as supervisor of nursing/technical staff and management of physical space/equipment in the Small Animal Intensive Care Unit area of the Veterinary Health Center.
Candidates must have completed a two-year college program in veterinary or animal technology accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association. A minimum of five years of post-graduate experience in the veterinary critical care or emergency medicine field is required along with one year of post-graduate experience supervising veterinary technician support staff. Other requirements include being registered as a paraprofessional under the authority of Kansas Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners upon employment, proficient computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets and data entry and the ability to work alternate shifts, holidays, weekends or on-call duty on occasion if needed. Preferred qualifications include working knowledge of human resource management and conflict resolution, strong oral and written communication skills, creative problem solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in emergency situations.
The successful candidate will be expected to provide critical care for emergent patients as directed by clinicians, and be familiar with emergency equipment, supplies, pharmaceuticals and their location. The candidate will also manage and assign daily tasks and responsibilities to ICU technicians to ensure optimal patient care and assist in instruction of veterinary students.
