The Center of Excellence for Emerging and Zoonotic Animal diseases (CEEZAD), headquartered at Kansas State University, is accepting applications for a full-time Grant Specialist.  The individual will be primarily responsible for management of all CEEZAD portfolio budgets and ensure that all administrative and financial policies and procedures and sound business practices are followed; this will require regular feedback to the CEEZAD Director and frequent communication with PIs, subcontractors, the Department of Homeland Security Office of University Programs and CEEZAD Advisory Board members.   The individual will also assist with local, state and federal compliance reporting requirements and assist the CEEZAD Administrative Core as needed with preparation of reports, grant applications and various agreements.   

This position requires a BS degree with experience in short and long-term budgeting and understanding of federal and state financial regulations. Qualified applicant must also possess strong time management and organizational skills, professional written and verbal communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills.

Preference will be given to those applicants that have the following skills: 5+ years of experience; knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting and cost control principles, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and working knowledge of forecasting and rolling budgets; ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects; ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings; knowledge of compliance rules and regulations; willingness to work a flexible schedule (limited travel may be involved; and possess an MS or MBA.
