Large Animal Emergency Clinician
The Veterinary Health Center, Kansas State University invites applications for a clinical, 1 year, term appointment as a Large Animal Emergency Clinician (LAEC). The LAEC will provide after hours and emergency service and teaching to the Equine and Farm Animal Sections of the KSU-VHC. The emphasis of the position will involve responsibility for equine emergencies. Candidates must hold a DVM degree or equivalent. The candidate must have completed a residency in large animal surgery. Candidates who are eligible for certification as a Large Animal Surgeon by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons will be given preference. The LAEC will work with senior faculty, house officers and technical staff. The LAEC will be responsible for supervising the management of all emergency and after hours medical and surgical cases presented to the VHC large animal clinic. In addition, the LAEC will be responsible for overseeing senior students and technical staff caring for equine and farm animal patients after hours. Senior faculty will provide consultation and back-up assistance to the LAEC. This position includes a clinical appointment of approximately 80% and limited lecture and laboratory teaching responsibilities. Time off service to study for the A.C.V.S. board examination can be negotiated.
