SCAVSAB - Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior
The AVSAB Student Chapter at KSU (Behavior Club) is an organization that is dedicated to educating veterinary students on the subject of animal behavior. The club acts to supplement the college curriculum that currently does not have a behavior focus. The goal is to emphasize the importance and clinical relevance of animal behavior in all aspects of veterinary medicine as well as provide information about a career as an animal behaviorist.
Behavior Club hosts monthly meetings and wet labs to cover a variety of interests for our members. We discuss a number of topics including natural behavior, abnormal behavior, training and behavioral medicine. We incorporate a wide range of species including small animals, horses, livestock, exotic pets, zoo animals, wildlife and laboratory animals.
Meetings usually consist of club business and a behavior lecture or demonstration. Wet labs provide the opportunity for members to get hands-on experience with either basic animal handling skills or with specific behavioral issues. In addition, the club is involved in fundraising activities throughout the year, participates in the annual university open house and provides puppy socialization and obedience training classes to the community.
The Behavior Club encourages all students to join us in learning about the important discipline of animal behavior!
