Policy for students with disabilities

For Students

Kansas State University is dedicated to providing equal opportunity and access for every student. Any student with a disability who may require academic accommodations should contact the Student Access Center (SAC), 202 Holton Hall, 785-532-6441, accesscenter@k-state.edu.

Students are asked to provide the SAC with appropriate documentation of the disability from a qualified professional. Documentation guidelines can be found at www.k-state.edu/accesscenter. Upon student request, SAC will provide eligible students a letter outlining recommended accommodations. Recommended accommodations are approved by the Dean, Dean of Academic Programs, and Department Head of Clinical Sciences. Letters of accommodation from the SAC office need to be distributed to each instructor, the Department Head of Clinical Sciences, and the Associate Dean for Academic Programs. Testing sites for students needing accommodations will normally take place at the Student Access Center located at 202 Holton Hall.

For Faculty

K-State and the Student Access Center encourage instructors to include a statement in each class syllabus as follows:

“Any student with a disability who needs a classroom accommodation, access to technology, or other assistance in this course should contact the Student Access Center and/or their instructor.”

More information about disability services can be found at www.k-state.edu/accesscenter.

Testing accommodations will normally take place at the Student Access Center located at 202 Holton Hall. Exceptions to testing site should be requested by the instructor and approved by the respective Department Head and the Associate Dean for Academic Programs.
