Service

As Director of Outreach, I coordinate and facilitate outreach efforts on behalf of the College of Veterinary Medicine, with a primary focus of interfacing with practicing veterinarians throughout the state and promoting relevance in our college’s teaching, service, and research.  I plan, organize, and execute outreach events for the public, such as the Kansas State Fair Birthing Center and American Royal agricultural education exhibits.  I have a passion for improving livelihoods through veterinary medicine, and enjoy being a catalyst for student opportunities.

Teaching

I am course coordinator and co-instructor for Veterinary Epidemiology, a course designed to train 1st year veterinary students in epidemiologic concepts.  I also facilitate discussions in other courses such as Topics in Global Veterinary Medicine, Investigation and Control of International Disease Outbreaks, and Issues in Rural Practice.

Research

My research has focused on beef cattle health and preharvest food safety, although I inherently promote research activities throughout our college. I also conduct research involving senior student focus group perspectives on didactic curriculum and teaching culture.
