Abortion Work-ups

Below we have provided guidelines for sample collection, submission, and testing for abortion cases in multiple species including the most common infectious causes of abortion in each of those species. We hope you will find these guidelines helpful when collecting samples and submitting them to the KSVDL for testing. Specific diagnostic tests are listed at the end of each work-up as a link that you may click on to see further information such as estimated turn-around time and cost of the individual test. As indicated, if no specific tests are requested these cases will be handled at the discretion of the pathologist and in general all of the routine tests will be performed if the proper samples are submitted.
