Biochemical actions of toxicants, utilizing comparative medicine as a research and diagnostic tool in toxicology, identifying the effects of environmental chemicals on public health, and furthering new information development in clinical and diagnostic veterinary and human toxicology. More than 875 scientific contributions as professional publication, including 3 books and many book chapters and presented over 730 presentations on national and international professional and scientific platforms.
Instruction in clinical and diagnostic toxicology to 3rd and 4th year students in the professional curriculum. Mentored more than 55 residents and MS or PhD students to successfully complete training programs in toxicology.
Clinical services program of diagnostic testing, patient care and information responses for toxicology assistance providing diagnostic toxicology laboratory service, clinical consultation on patient and forensic toxicology, and providing information services in response to professional and public requests. Served on study sections of various NIH Institutes and scientific advisory panels for the Environmental Protection Agency, the Food and Drug Administration, the National Research Council and the World Health Organization International Program on Chemical Safety. Editor, The International Journal Veterinary and Human Toxicology and on the editorial boards of numerous other scientific journals. Charter member and fellow of the American Academy of Clinical Toxicology, the American Academy of Veterinary and Comparative Toxicology, and the Academy of Toxicological Sciences. Served as past–president of the Society of Toxicology, the American Academy of Clinical Toxicology and the Worlds Federation of Clinical Toxicology and Poison Control Centers.
