My primary responsibilities as Director of the
Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory include the oversight of day-to-day
operations of the Lab. I set policies and procedures consistent with
AAVLD accreditation requirements, establish vision and leadership for
the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, recruit faculty and staff, provide
opportunities for faculty and staff growth and development, and prepare
and manage budgets in consultation with the Dean of the College of
Veterinary Medicine and the Head of Diagnostic Medicine and Pathobiology.
I also serve on the Dean’s Administrative Council for the College of
Veterinary Medicine.
My interests broadly include the implementation of
rapid diagnostic technologies for animal disease diagnosis, animal
health surveillance, biosecurity and food safety. Concurrent with
interests in rapid diagnostics is the interest to disseminate data,
results and information to constituents via cutting-edge technology that
will affect real-time decision making.
