One fetus was manually extracted. This fetus was deceased.
A cesarean section and ovariohysterectomy was performed.
The other 4 fetuses delivered by C-section were deceased.
Peritonitis and diffuse petechia was noted.
Peritoneal fluid was collected for cytology and aerobic culture.
Peritoneal cytology: Free bacteria and neutrophils present.
Peritoneal culture: Enterococcus faecalis.
Patient died within 24 hours post
surgery.
