The Theriogenology Service provides year-round routine, referral and emergency small animal reproduction services covered by a board-certified diplomate of the American College of Theriogenologists.  The Theriogenology Service works together with other services and specialists within the hospital (i.e.: small animal surgery, radiology) to provide a comprehensive service to breeders and referring veterinarians. The VHC has been approved by the American Kennel Club as a canine semen collection, freezing and storage facility.

Female Services

  • Artificial insemination with fresh, cooled or frozen semen (Vaginal and surgical)
  • Complete reproductive exam

  • Evaluation of fetal well-being
  • Puppy count
  • Diagnosis and management of high risk pregnancies
  • Diagnosis and management of pregnancy losses
  • Whelping services
  • Elective C-sections
  • Medical and surgical management of complicated whelpings (dystocia)
  • Treatment of post-partum problems
  • Contraception
  • Medical termination of unwanted pregnancies
  • Reproductive imaging (ultrasonography, endoscopy, simple and contrast radiography)
  • Kennel management and counseling

  • Semen collection and evaluation
  • Shipping of cooled semen
  • Semen freezing
  • Collection and submission of samples for DNA testing
  • Complete reproductive exam
  • Advanced diagnosis and treatment of  infertility
  • Medical treatment of prostatic disorders
  • Reproductive ultrasonography
  • Preservation of genetics of dead or compromised dogs
