Further Diagnostics and Outcome
Cytology
Aspirates
of the enlarged inguinal lymph node and the mammary massed were
submitted for evaluation. The aspirate of the inguinal lymph
node was nondiagnostic but did display one small cluster of
cells which suggested carcinoma.
Aspirate of the mammary mass was consistent with neoplasia. The
cytologic features of malignancy were mild. Histopathologic
examination was recommended.
Outcome
Due to the
extensive disease and poor prognosis, the owner elected no
treatment. The pet was taken to her referring veterinarian for
euthanasia.
