All Small Animal Surgeons staffing the KSU VHC Small
Animal Surgery Service are Diplomates of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. In addition to their clinical service
duties, all small animal surgeons are engaged in teaching professional veterinary students
and surgical residents within the College of Veterinary medicine and engage in performing
research in their various specialties.
The Small Animal Surgery Service is divided into two sub-services, the Orthopedic or General Surgery Services.
The Orthopedic service is staffed alternately by Dr. James Roush or Dr. Walter Renberg. The Orthopedic surgeons perform surgery for joint diseases, bone fracture and other surgeries including joint replacement and growth deformities.
The General Surgery surgeons perform abdominal and thoracic surgeries, elective surgery, and other general surgeries including surgeries of the ear and perineal regions. The General Surgery service also consults for specialty dentistry surgeries.
Both surgery services and all surgeons share responsibility for neurologic surgeries as presented.
