Conference Objective
The KSU faculty and technicians’ interest is to generate professional pride and interest in the veterinary technician profession. This continuing education meeting will highlight many different species and help technicians expand their horizons in animal health care.

12:30 pm	Concurrent Sessions – Enrollment is limited in some sessions as noted. Rank your preferences on the registration form. Assignments will be made in the order registrations are received. Parasitology Fecal Wet Lab – Mike Dryden and Vicki Smith (LIMITED to 30 people) Parasitology, the last refuge of the diagnostically destitute. This wet lab will highlight critical new information on conducting proper fecal examinations through a hands-on experience. Clinical Pathology Wet Lab (LIMITED to 30 people) This lab will provide information on blood films for the veterinary technician to use. Technicians will have the opportunity to prepare a good quality blood film and then perform a basic evaluation. Every Day Dental Experiences Lab – Matthew Riegel (LIMITED to 10 people) Topics covered in this lab include record keeping, instrumentation, using the latest dental products, sharpening instruments, and dental radiographs. Small Animal Bandaging Lab – Steven Swaim (LIMITED to 30 people) This lab will consist of: a lecture on bandaging showing different forms of bandages and their use, (dry-to-dry, wet-to-dry, wet-to-wet); different bandage materials; and some bandaging techniques; a video demonstrating step-by-step bandaging techniques for certain body areas (head and ear, elbow, paw, tail and pelvic area); and a hands-on lab applying the bandages that were observed on the video. Is BVD Lurking in the Herd? What Your Cattle Producers Need to Know! – Gary Anderson, Larry Hollis, Jerome Nietfeld, Cindy Chard-Bergstrom (LIMITED to 45 people) This course will acquaint participants with the manifestations of BVD virus, the problems caused by persistently infected animals, current diagnostic programs and practical control and prevention strategies. Behind the Scenes at Sunset Zoo – Zoo Staff (LIMITED to 45 people) This session will consist of a behind-the-scenes experience at Manhattan’s Sunset Zoo (detailing animal husbandry, holding, enrichment, nutrition, and education). Tour led by zoo staff. A bus will be provided for transportation to and from the Zoo.
