Rabies and Tetanus vaccine will be available for those desiring
vaccination.
Concerning rabies vaccination, the current ACIP
recommendations state that serological titers should be
performed in lieu of routine boosters for persons previously
immunized with a tissue culture (human diploid cell) rabies
vaccine. A booster is recommended for persons with a
rabies titer of less than 1:5.
Concerning tetanus vaccination, the current
recommendation is to have a booster every 10 years.
A nurse from the Kansas State University Lafene Health
Center will be available Monday, June 8 from 8:00 to 11:00
am; Tuesday, June 9 from 8:00 to 11:00 am; and
Wednesday, June 10 from 8:00 to 11:00 am to administer rabies, tetanus, and adult tetanus/diphtheria/pertussis
vaccines.
The Rabies Laboratory will make every effort to have titer
results available after 9:00 am on Wednesday for persons
having blood drawn by 11:00 am Monday, June 8.

Wellness Screening

Phlebotomists will be available on Monday, June 8 from
7:00 to 11:00 am and Tuesday, June 9 from 7:00 to 11:00
am to collect specimens for Comprehensive Panel, CBC
with differential, Brucella Titer, Prostate Specific Antigen
and/or other tests as listed. A blood sample for a rabies
titer may also be collected for testing by the KSU Rabies
Laboratory. Samples collected on Monday morning may
have results available after 9:00 am on Wednesday
morning.

For accurate results, conference participants who wish to
have the chemistry profile done, should fast for 12 hours
prior to the time of testing.
A Complete Blood Count (CBC) with differential can be
ordered. An IgG/IgM Lyme’s Titer for past exposure titers
will be available. CEA (Carcinoma Embryonic Antigen) as a
monitor for someone who has had colon cancer will be
available.
Each participant will receive the results of their blood work
via a self-addressed envelope a few days following the
completion of the conference. Results of the rabies titer
collected after Monday morning will be mailed to the
participants after the conference.
